Flying Saucer reports and Winston Churchill's hopes of bringing his horse to Ireland to run in the Derby are in a newly published volume of documents on Irish foreign policy.

The latest volume covers the work of Irish diplomats in the 1948-51 period when the first Inter-Party government was formed under Taoiseach John A Costello and the Irish Free State left the Commonwealth to become a republic.

Intense interest in reported UFO sightings in the skies over the US in 1950 prompted the Irish embassy in Washington to send a report to Dublin.

An embassy staffer, while saying he was making no commitment as to whether he believed such flying saucer reports, asked that his report "be sent to G2, Irish military intelligence".

Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan thanked the editorial team involved in compiling the documents for "a gripping read".

In 1948, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill told Ireland's ambassador at a Remembrance Day ceremony in London of his hopes for a united Ireland.

"I still hope for a united Ireland. You must get those fellows from the north in, though you can't do it by force. There is not, and never was, any bitterness in my heart towards your country," he said.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- More than 80 percent of Nevada is owned by the federal government, and none of that land is more closely guarded than Area 51.

This base is an expanse of desert, dry lakes, and mountains approximately the size of Connecticut.

Over the past couple of decades, people interested in the world's most advanced military and spy aircraft, or with interest in alien visitors and UFOs, has been drawn to Area 51.

A trip to area 51 today usually begins with a stop at the Little A'Le'Inn in Rachel, with its restaurant, bar and tourist tchtochkies; owner Pat Turner has heard it all. "I don’t care who walks in the door. We greet them. We find out who they are, and there are some people when you sit and talk to, you really feel that, whether they have seen it for sure, they really believe what they’ve seen," Turner said.

Dennis Lingo made the trek to Area 51 from Fresno, Calif. "You know, you watch all the TV programs about aliens, about area 51 and all that stuff," Lingo said.

Does NASA Have Irrefutable Evidence of UFO & Alien Visitation?

When it comes to real footage of UFOs (unidentified flying objects), film from the 1991 NASA STS-48 Discovery Space Shuttle mission is definitely one at the top of the list. This footage is real, well documented, and has been the subject of rigorous scientific investigation by multiple researchers and institutions.

The video below shows as many as a dozen objects moving in unusual fashion. Apart from that, the most fascinating part is when we see one object at a point near the horizon, as a flash occurs, followed by another object or stream that moves rapidly across the field of view, the object shoots off into space.

Explanations have varied from intelligent extraterrestrial spacecraft, to space weather events and more. There is however, no definite explanation, and many of them don’t take into account the dozens of objects that are captured on film.

Col. Donald Ware, U.S. Air Force (ret.) passes on this reminder of the time 37 years ago when the Star Visitors took over a British television program and broadcasted instead an important message for the people of Earth. 

[The transmission] occurred on 26 Nov 77 at 5:12 p.m. when a strange unknown voice overrode, took over, or super-modulated the TV signals from five transmitters that were monitored by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) in England. IBA did not detect the intrusion. The 5+1/2-minute message overrode a scheduled newscast read by Ivor Mills on Southern ITV, England, and was heard by listeners as far away as Andover, London, Newbury, Oxford, Reading, Southhampton, and Winchester.

IBA engineers at Croydon, Surry did not hear the override, and at the main transmitter at Southhampton, Hants monitoring system, there was also no evidence of the takeover. A police spokesman told AP and UPI that the message was taken seriously:

"They were frightened and generally scared."

The voice spoke slowly and deliberately, with a strange inward authority, calm, serene, never scolding. It said:

This is the voice of Gramaha, the Representative of the Asta (Ashtar in some texts) Galactic Command speaking to you.

For many years now you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet earth. We come to warn you of the destiny of your race and your worlds so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid the disasters which threaten your worlds and the beings on our worlds around you.

An Oregon witness at Beaver Marsh reported watching a silent, diamond-shaped UFO, moving overhead about 100 feet in altitude, according to testimony in Case 61431 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness stepped outside from a parked travel trailer along Highway 97 just southeast of the Diamond Lake Junction turn off about 6:45 p.m. on November 9, 2014, when the object was first seen coming from the south.

“It was before the moon had appeared on the horizon and the sky was very dark,” the witness stated. “The stars that night were very bright. When I looked up to the south I was looking directly at a metal tower of some sort (radio-telephone) with a red light on top. There was some illumination from a billboard in front of the tower.”

The witness described the object.

“I saw a silent shape move very slowly – perhaps 25 mph (guess) fly over the tower and my head and continue to the north. I was only able to see the UFO from roughly 60 yards away to the south and 60 yards away to the north. I could only see a moving blur until the object was directly overhead and the stars in the background were covered up as the shape passed between them and me. It was then I could see the outline of the craft. It appeared to be a diamond shape.”
