Unusual Craft Flies Low over Swineshead Bridge

Did you spot an unusual aircraft flying low over Swineshead Bridge on Wednesday evening?

This is the question being asked by a Standard reader who says she spotted what looked like ‘a helicopter without landing feet, propellers or windows’.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said she was driving over the level crossing between 7 -9 pm when she saw the craft ‘flying low to the ground at a height just above the houses’.

“I just thought - well that’s strange, what it is?” she said.

“It was a bit bigger than a regular commercial helicopter but not quite as big as a Chinook.

“I don’t know if it was making any sound or not as I think I had my radio on at the time.”

She added: “I wish I had taken a picture of it and just wondered if it was some kind of unusual crop sprayer and was hoping somebody else had seen it too as there were other cars in the area.”
