Looking back: May 27, 1966 - On this day in southwest Hertfordshire...

Reports in the “Observer” that two Garston housewives claimed to have seen a “flying saucer” have brought forward a host of counter claims and theories.

The most startling came from the director of the British “Flying Saucer Review”, Mr. Gordon Creighton of Cedars Avenue. Rickmansworth.

Mr. Creighton, who has made 10 broadcasts and television appearances in the past year on the subject of “unidentified flying objects,” said he would not be surprised if the two housewives had witnessed a landing.

Alien Abduction and UFO Sightings are becoming more apparent in our modern times. The incidence of these sightings and encounters are reported on a daily basis yet only few were able to document them. Humans and animals alike are reportedly being abducted for alien experimentations.

Some people who experienced such shared that they had no recollection of what happened to them. But the scary part is that they had no idea where the time went. They would just realize that a couple of hours passed without them realizing it. There are also different victims who went on hypnosis sessions in order to validate their claims. What's weird is that they told the same alien abduction stories and even passed lie detectors.

The usual abduction stories would tell you that the abductees remember sort of surgical tools that surround them. Sometimes, unexplainable scars will follow. That could only mean one thing, they have been cut opened and examined.

In 1985, there were six crewmembers on board the Soviet Salyut-7 space station. They were cosmonauts Leonid Kizim, Oleg Atkov, Vladimir Solovyov, Svetlana Savitskaya, Igor Volk and Vladimir Jannibekov. That day, the cosmonauts were doing their routine work connected with laboratory experiments. All of a sudden, a cloud of strange orange gas enveloped the station. A flash of bright light blinded all the cosmonauts on board for a while. As soon as they could see again, the cosmonauts saw silhouettes of seven figures outside the station. The aliens looked like humans, but were of higher stature. They also had large wings behind their backs and luminous halos above their heads. The creatures looked like angels.

It is intricately made with polished green stone and is thought to have adorned a very important woman or child on only special occasions. Yet this is no modern-day fashion accessory and is instead believed to be the oldest stone bracelet in the world, dating to as long ago as 40,000 years.

Unearthed in the Altai region of Siberia in 2008, after detailed analysis Russian experts now accept its remarkable age as correct.

From UFO sightings to ghostly encounters, a day packed with paranormal activity is about to descend on Edinburgh.

The Scottish UFO and Paranormal Conference will take place at the Pleasance Theatre on Saturday, June 20 delving into weird and wonderful paranormal topics.Organised by the Founder of Strange Phenomena Investigations, Malcolm Robinson, the event will explore these mystery sightings and events across the UK.

“This conference is one of a kind,” Malcolm said. “It's to educate the people of Scotland to the strange world of UFOs and the paranormal.

“We aim to do this by providing some of the best speakers in the United Kingdom in their field to present their own facts and findings about these wide ranges of strange mysteries that have totally perplexed us for many years.

“It's a great opportunity for the public to come along and see where we are with all these mysteries. We welcome sceptics, at the end of the day I was very sceptical myself.”

It wasn’t until Malcolm had his own ghostly encounter, in a haunted house nonetheless, that he realised there may be more to the paranormal world than he believed.

“I set out to disprove all these subjects when I was a younger chap,” Malcolm said.

“It wasn't until I spent a night in a haunted house and I got slapped and my hair pulled by nothing, that's when I came off the fence.

“At the end of the day all we're trying to do is at least show the public this is what's going on. You don't have to believe a word of this, but for goodness sake just take it in a wee bit. Take it in and if it sits right with you, fantastic.”ara

The conference marks the first time the society of Strange Phenomena Investigations will put on a major event, inviting speakers including Brian Allen, Ron Halliday, Alyson Dunlop, James Welsh and Doctor Peter McCue.

“Brian Allen will be speaking about some of the best cases in ethology and some of the best low-level close proximity UFO sightings, which a lot of people presume to be of an alien variety, for want of a better word," Malcolm said.

“Brian is saying 'no', we should look at it in a new light and maybe it's our own technology. It could be our own stuff, 95% of all UFO reports can be identified. It's only the small 5% we just can't explain at this time. 

“Ron Halliday is going to be speaking about UFOs and fairy abductions and physic clairvoyant Ewan Irvine who is going to speak to the audience about what it is like to be a clairvoyant, what it's like to have this gift that he can reach the other side and communicate with people who have passed on.

“Dr Peter McCue will speak about what we call ‘hotspots’ or ‘window areas’, this is certain locations throughout the world that tend to have these areas which seem to attract a higher concentration of paranormal events."

Ending the day with images to leave your mind intrigued, Malcolm will show his top ten ghost photographs and Bill Rooke will showcase an image of what is believed to have been a sighting of a fairy from York.

An Interesting Conversation with J. ALLEN HYNEK What are the most interesting cases for ufologists to study? The most important cases for learning more about UFOs are those with multiple witnesses and reports in which the UFO leaves some sort of physical trace or effect. Physical trace cases involving ground markings or electromagnetic effects are called Close Encounters of the Second Kind (CE-2s). When a UFO is observed visually and picked up by radar simultaneously, this case is cataloged as a Radar-Visual (R-V) sighting.  One of the most famous CE-2 cases occurred in 1971, at Delphos, Kansas, where a teenage boy, Ronald Johnson, saw an illuminated object hover near the ground. After the object flew off, a glowing ring appeared on the spot. Analysis showed that the soil had undergone considerable physical and chemical changes that lasted for several months.  The most famous R-V case took place in 1952 over Washington, D.C., where air traffic controllers tracked UFOs while an Air Force pilot reported strange lights were encircling his aircraft. Air Force intelligence explained that the radar images and the strange lights were caused by temperature inversions, an explanation many scientists reject as improbable.  Another fascinating R-V case occurred on July 17, 1957. An Air Force bomber, an RB-47, was followed by a UFO for 700 miles across four states as it flew from Mississippi to Oklahoma. For an hour and a half the object was seen by the flight crew, detected by the aircraft's electronic gear, and tracked by ground radar. Because of the multiple witnesses, radar confirmation, and the duration of the sighting, most UFO researchers rule out misperception and radar malfunction. The RB-47 case is still unexplained.  Recently, the most significant Radar-Visual cases have come from Belgium where triangular-shaped UFOs were seen by military personnel and civilians and detected on military radar. The Belgian Air Force has publicly aired recordings of radar trackings that show objects making fantastic maneuvers at incredibly high speeds that are far beyond the capabilities of conventional aircraft.  Where and when are UFOs most often sighted? Are there any UFO sightings near my town? UFO sightings are a worldwide phenomenon, with reports coming from almost every nation. Some countries, however, have more reports than others. In particular, a large number of UFO reports come from the United States, Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Russia. By contrast, few reports (considering their large populations) are received from Mexico, Germany, and India. No one is sure why the number of UFO reports varies from country to country, but cultural, religious, and political factors are probably involved.

The Russian Federal Space Agency, Roscosmos, has stated its intent to search for extraterrestrial life despite losing 35 percent of its budget. According to a draft of the federal space program’s goals for 2016-2025 that was made public on Thursday, April 23, Russia plans to launch several spacecraft designed to find alien life. The project includes sending satellites and interplanetary missions to Mars and Earth’s moon. The announcements come at a time when Russia’s space efforts come into doubt as the nation faces an economic crisis.
